Should you listen to your cravings? 👇 ABSOLUTE Should you listen to your cravings? 👇

ABSOLUTELY.

Here’s why:

Cravings are often a way for your body to tell you something quite important. It can tell us that we aren’t eating enough, or that our meals are not satisfying us. They aren’t a sign of weakness or of poor self-control, you might just genuinely be hungry.

Rather than ignoring your cravings, try:

⭐ Reflecting on when they appear
⭐ Honouring your cravings and allowing yourself to eat what you crave
⭐ Eating regularly
⭐ Building nourishing & satisfying meals
⭐ Practising self-care and stress management regularly

Wherever the craving might be coming from, ignoring them isn’t helpful. Your body is trying to tell you something important, that you need nourishment, either through food, or emotional nourishment. Think of listening to your cravings as one way to build trust with your body.

Just as any good relationship requires attention a Just as any good relationship requires attention and needs to be nurtured over time, so does the relationship you have with yourself.

Here’s a brief list of ways to show yourself some love this Valentine’s day:

💗 Recognise & appreciate your body for all the wonderful things you are able to do. From being able to experience different sensations like touch, taste, smell, sight or sound to being able to enjoy your hobbies, your body does some pretty amazing things every single day.

💗 Pamper your body. Indulge in some rich body lotion, spend some extra time soaking in a relaxing bubble bath or put a face mask on. Whatever you enjoy, try and show your body some kindness.

💗 Practice positive self-talk. Whether it’s writing out a few positive sticky notes and sticking them around your bedroom or jotting down a few positive thoughts each day in a journal, the more you see a positive message, the more you start to resonate with them.

💗 Show yourself the same kindness you would show a close friend. Notice the words and tone you use when you speak to yourself about your body., ask yourself ‘Would I say the same to a close friend? and extend the same kindness to yourself.

💗 Practice a guided self-compassion meditation.

Ever found yourself in a cycle of stress around fo Ever found yourself in a cycle of stress around food and bloating?

Bloating > Stress about bloating > Food restriction > ⬇️ gut health & digestion > ⬆️ bloating

It’s very common for people to start restricting the foods they eat based on uncomfortable symptoms they are having, but we know that food restriction (especially for an extended time) can actually contribute and/or exacerbate these symptoms by:
💡Slowing down digestion
💡Lowering production of important digestive enzymes
💡Decreasing the production of healthy gut bacteria
💡Increasing stress around food, eating, your body & self, which further negatively impacts gut health and impedes digestion

For example, it’s very common that when you stop eating foods containing gluten or lactose for a while and reintroduce them you can start to experience uncomfortable symptoms. You might think this is ‘proof’ that the foods are bad for you and that you should continue restricting them, but often what is happening is that because you didn’t eat those foods for a while your stomach isn’t producing enough of those specific digestive enzymes that are needed to break them down.

We aren’t saying that food elimination isn’t helpful for symptom relief – being in touch with your body and learning what feels good and what doesn’t is really important! But restricting food doesn’t get to the root of the digestive issues and often you might not even need to exclude these foods for the rest of your life.

Research tells us that as a person increases their diet variety, their gut health and symptoms improve!
